2 owners charged with cruelty in dead pit bull case
(By Kimberly Dick, kdick@heraldonline.com) Police have arrested a Rock Hill couple in connection with a dead pit bull and three other dogs seized by York County Animal Control officials from a Rock Hill home earlier this month.

Artavian Jerome Smith, 32, and Ashley Renee Smith, 29, of Curtis Street were each arrested Monday and charged with animal cruelty, according to Rock Hill police documents.

Officials say charges are likely to be filed by mid-week against the owner of a kennel where nearly 300 puppies and dogs were seized last Thursday.
