Gaston Co. reports 3rd rabies case this year
(By Meghan Cooke, macooke@charlotteobserver.com) A dog had to be euthanized after it was attacked in Gaston County by a rabid raccoon in what officials said is the county's third case of rabies this year.

On Monday, a man who lives on Acapulco Drive in Gastonia called animal control to report that he had killed a raccoon after it attacked his dog, according to Gaston County Police Animal Control.
